But the pivotal role of the film, Empty-V tabloid reporter Hagitha Utslay, went to Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, best known for her role of 'Valerie Malone' on Beverly Hills 90210.
Says Blanchard, "Tiffani is an incredible actress who lights up the screen. She has a certain grace and elegance to her which plays a nice counterpart to Arnold."
Prior to her stint on 90210, Thiessen starred on the popular kids Saturday morning show "Saved By the Bell." Her film credits include "Son in Law," and the up-coming releases "Blood Money" and "Love Stinks."
Thiessen came to the project because the script cracked her up. "I thought the script was hysterical," said Thiessen. "My character is this slutty (hence Utslay which is pig Latin for slut) reporter who leaches on to Doughy and somehow tries to get to the bottom of the case. I think it is fun to be on both sides of the spoof; after all, I am sort of
spoofing myself."
From Miss Junior America to Valerie Malone on the popular Fox show "Beverly Hills 90210," Thiessen has grown up right in front of the camera.
Her career started when she was eight years old modeling for her uncle. From there she appeared in numerous commercials.
Her first theatrical gig was a pilot for CBS called "Live In" opposite Chris Young. Shortly thereafter she landed and appeared on the series "Saved By The Bell" for the next five years. During that time she guest starred on a number of television series and made her feature film debut in "Son In Law" opposite Pauly Shore.
Her career skyrocketed in 1993 and Tiffani became a household name when Aaron Spelling chose her out of a plethora of actresses for the role of 'Valerie Malone' on "Beverly Hills 90210.
In addition to 90210, Thiessen has earned acclaim for her roles in the movies-of-the-week "Killer Among Friends," "The Stranger Besides Me," "She Fought Alone" and "Buried Secrets." She also just completed photography on "Texas Blood Money," the sequel to "From Dusk Til Dawn" and Love Stinks opposite French Stewart.
Besides acting, she enjoys gardening, kickboxing and playing with her cats Sadie and Savannah and her dog, Clyde.
